Hank Willis Thomas, LOVERULES, Edition 2/3, 2018, Neon multiple

UAMA is proud to highlight the incredible scholarship of U of A Honors College students who engaged with the exhibition Hank Willis Thomas: LOVERULES as part of their coursework.

Students will showcase their thought-provoking projects, demonstrating how art fosters critical thinking, collaboration and interdisciplinary learning. This event is open to the public; don’t miss this unique opportunity to see creativity and academia come together!

@10:00 am | “Folktales from Today and Tomorrow”

In these highly conflicted times, artist Hank Willis Thomas encourages us to be visionary, not reactionary. We have taken inspiration from his words and images in the LOVERULES exhibition and present to you our own: original folktales for today and tomorrow, student work created in Prof. Patrick Baliani’s W.A. Franke Honors College seminar “Legends in the Landscapes.”

@11:00 am | “Art at the Boundaries of _______”

Over the spring semester, the UAMA galleries and collection provided a unique classroom experience for students in Dr. Kate Alexander's "Art, Borders and Boundaries" course. The resulting pop-up exhibition is curated by Honors students, who collectively curated an exhibition of works from UAMA’s permanent collection in response to LOVERULES. The selected works and interpretive content aim to help visitors explore and define how our shared experiences of being human align and diverge.
