We believe in the power of art to spark essential conversations and enhance research at our university and in our community.
Yesterday we had the pleasure of visiting Tucson artist Jim Waid at his historic home and studio in Menlo Park, where he's lived and created since the 1970s.
We were there to pick up a striking print by another artist — Sol LeWitt — which Jim kindly donated to the UAMA permanent collection. He shared that he'd obtained the 1977 print years ago in Taos by trading an artwork of his own for it.
Jim is best known as an abstract landscape painter, and we have a robust sample of his work in the collection — drawings, prints and several paintings. We couldn't be more thrilled to add him as an in-kind donor as well.
Thank you, Jim!
