Art on the Move

The exhibition Sargent Claude Johnson recently opened at the Huntington and features two loans from the UAMA collection.

It is the first exhibition devoted to the California artist — whose uplifting portrayals of people of color made him the West Coast’s key connection to the Harlem Renaissance — in over 25 years.

At the same time, two exhibitions opened today that also feature works from the UAMA collection. The Seattle Art Museum's installation of Jaune Quick-to-See Smith: Memory Map features her work Spam, while the Schirn's installation of The Culture features Rozeal's divine selektah...big up.
