Frances O’Brien

Details

Born in Rochester, New York, O'Brien attended Vassar College, the Corcoran Art School, and the Art Students League. O’Brien was best known for her work creating portraits for magazine covers, including The Saturday Review. This collection contains many items from her early work which mainly comprised portraitures of popular political and social icons such as Dwight D. Eisenhower, Winston S. Churchill, Eleanor Roosevelt, Georgia O’Keeffe, Salvador Dalí, and many others. Other materials include, correspondence, ephemera, photographs, print blocks and original prints.
