They’ve been reported in Roswell, Phoenix, and even New York City, but has anyone actually seen a performance?

Join Maria Denolt for "Interior Stroll," an interactive (and slightly satirical) tour exploring the mysterious nature of alleged “performance sightings.”

Maria asks us: Why do sensible, educated people believe that theaters exist? Why do some art scholars argue that “performances” are actually hot air balloons, secret military aircraft, or swamp gas? Using the most up-to-date scientific research and obsolete cultural theory, Maria will debunk the myths and disclose the facts. The truth is out there, but the art's in here.

Participants are asked to bring sunglasses and wear comfortable shoes. Space is limited; RSVP encouraged!

Dani Lamorte (aka Maria Denolt) is a Pittsburgh-based artist (and former Tucsonan) who writes, performs, and makes photographic images. Their work has appeared in Observer, Cleveland Review of Books, Pittsburgh City Paper, and 100 Days in Appalachia, among other publications. Their first book, Nobody’s Psychic, was published by the University Press of Kentucky in fall 2025.

On Thursday October 29 from 4-5pm, you can also join Dani Lamorte for Some Advice, a reading and performance. This reading will take place on campus on the rooftop of the ENR2 Building. Nobody’s Psychic is available for purchase in Tucson at Antigone Books.

Events made possible in collaboration with UA Department of German Studies, UA Department of Public and Applied Humanities, the LGBTQ+ Institute, and Antigone Books.
