Student and Faculty Open House

Celebrate art, expression, and all things Museum at our Open House and Exhibition Reception!

Beginning at 9:30 a.m., college students and faculty are encouraged to come and meet curators, enjoy behind-the-scenes tours, and learn about ways to engage with the Museum. Activities like PechaKucha talks by our Portal to the Public participants, live mural painting, and our Exhibition Reception are open to the public.


9:30-10:30 a.m. | Faculty appreciation: Learn from faculty who teach using the Museum and its collection. Coffee and pastries provided.

10:30 a.m. | Behind-the-scenes tour with Museum staff: Tour is limited to 12 people and a CatCard is required.

1:00 p.m. | Behind-the-scenes tour with Museum staff: Tour is limited to 12 people and a CatCard is required.

2:30-3:15 p.m. | PoP Talks, a PechaKucha-style presentation

3:45-4:30 p.m. | PoP Talks, a PechaKucha-style presentation

3:00-6:00 p.m. | Painting with Mel ‘Melo’ Dominguez: Tucson-based artist and muralist Dominguez will be painting a mural on a wall at the Museum. Guests and UA students are invited to watch, ask questions, or join in and paint!

4:00-6:00 p.m. | Music entertainment by DJ Butta Fly

5:00-7:00 p.m. | Exhibition Reception featuring Picture The World: Burhan Doğançay As Photographer and Richard Slechta: Cascades. UA PhD student Taylor Miller will present Elastic Concrete: Roadblocks to Peace in conjunction with Picture the World, and artist Richard Slechta will speak about his work.
