This special exhibition showcases works by high school student artists from across Pima County.
While we get to interact with youth visitors on field trips, in community programs or with their families, we do not always get to see the results of their personal artistic pursuits and practices. We are thrilled to highlight the technical skill and creative thought that these young artists possess. Artworks were chosen and submitted by local high school teachers. Some of the artists addressed direct prompts from their studio teachers or used their artistic vocabulary to speak to social issues, while others gathered inspiration from materials, literature, and friends and family.
Five participating artists were chosen to receive the Outstanding Emerging High School Artist Award, selected by a jury of Museum staff and faculty from the University of Arizona School of Art. In partnership with the School of Art, we are excited to offer $1,000 tuition awards to any Outstanding Emerging High School Artist awardees who enroll and major at the School of Art in the next two years.
