February 12th – March 27th, 2005
This exhibition features works by African American artists from several different generations in the 20th century. Despite the variation in time period, these works share common histories and traditions that were largely influenced by the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s and the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s and 1970s. Featured in this exhibit are works by prominent artists including Jacob Lawrence, Sam Gilliam, and Robert Colescott.
