September 11th, 2004 – January 9th, 2005

This exhibition is a group of paintings and prints from the UA Museum of Art’s collection brought together in order to examine how the electoral process is reflected in our art. The tradition of American political genre paintings dates back to the 1840s and was popularized in part with the advent of printmaking techniques developed in the latter half of the 19th century as seen in the two featured prints by George Caleb Bingham. Additional artists featured in this exhibit include Audrey Flack and Jacob Lawrence.
