Apart from donating a world-class Modern art collection to the UAMA in memory of his young son, Edward Gallagher, Jr. also established a generous endowment which has allowed the museum to purchase more than 1300 works of art for the permanent collection. With the collective vision of the directors and curators, the museum’s collection has grown to include rare works on paper, old master portraits, and other significant works that have strengthened the core collections of the museum. This exhibition features just a handful of the many works purchased over the years and pays tribute to the generosity of Edward Gallagher, Jr.
