UAMA members are invited to an exclusive, one-time event at Casa de Plegado – a modern Tucson home by Rob Paulus Architects – from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13. The event, presented in conjunction with the A New Unity: The Life and Afterlife of Bauhaus exhibition, includes a reception with refreshments and a tour by Rob Paulus and homeowner Christos Vlahos.
Tickets are $25 for members, $40 for non-members. Space is limited; RSVP by clicking here or by contacting Natasha Allen, (520) 621-5434.
Paulus, who carries on the legacy of Bauhaus in our desert town, was raised in Arizona and uses the natural landscape to enhance designs that are sculptural rather than decorative. Most of all, they are economically and environmentally sustainable. His architecture firm has won over twenty awards for Tucson projects, and their work has been featured in local and national magazines over forty times. Casa de Plegado embraces the Catalina Foothill surroundings and the Sonoran Desert using glass walls in a manner reminiscent of Bauhaus director Mies van der Rohe.
