Collaborative Learning Space

The collaborative learning space at the UAMA offers an intimate space to study the Museum’s collection, hold a seminar class or host a meeting. Classes can be scheduled for single sessions or multiple class sessions, based on availability and museum hours.

  • The room can accommodate up to 20-30 people, depending on layout of seating and tables.
  • Museum staff members are available to discuss your curricular goals and support you in teaching with objects from our collection.
  • If you are interested in viewing objects from the collection currently not on view, please see information below regarding “Protocol for Collections Access.”
  • You can spend part of your time in the museum galleries.
  • The collaborative learning space is equipped with educational technology. For a list of equipment available, please contact the Museum staff at artmuseum@email.arizona.edu.
  • The collaborative learning space is available by appointment Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

To schedule a viewing of objects in the collection, a one-time class visit, a semester-long class visit or a meeting, please contact the Museum staff at artmuseum@email.arizona.edu

This multi-purpose space is designed to meet the needs of students and faculty across the UArizona campus. The room is generally available on a first-come first-served basis, with the understanding that multiple staff members schedule activities in the room.

Protocol for Collections Access

The Museum and the Archive of Visual Arts are repositories of primary resources that can be used for research, study, inspiration and discussion. The Museum will make every effort to provide access to objects currently not on view to faculty, students, and researchers both on- and off-campus.

  • To select the objects for your visit, access the Museum’s collection online. A search can be made by keyword, artist, title, date, etc.
  • A viewing will consist of a maximum of 20 objects. Not all objects are guaranteed to be available, so your request may include more than 20 objects from which a selection may be made.
  • Requests for viewing artwork should be made at least three weeks in advance of the visit. Please be prepared to offer several choices of date/time for your visit.
  • All collections viewings will occur in the collaborative learning space unless that room is unavailable due to other scheduled classes. The viewing of some objects, due to their size or nature, may occur in other museum galleries designated by museum staff. Objects already on exhibition will remain in the galleries.
  • The collaborative learning space can accommodate up to 30 individuals. Larger groups should be split into two or more smaller groups.
  • A Museum staff member must be present for collections viewings.

Please remember and remind your group of the following:

  • Please use pencils as writing implements.
  • Backpacks, large purses, water bottles, and any food items should be checked at the security desk. Chewing gum is not allowed during viewings.
  • Photography is allowed with the flash turned off.
  • Please refrain from leaning on the walls or furniture where objects are displayed. Clipboards are available at the front desk.
  • Please secure all loose clothing, jewelry, and glasses when viewing objects.
  • Only the Museum staff is authorized to handle the objects or adjust the room lighting.
