Arts RX: Promoting Student Wellness Through Art

Arizona Arts RX is revolutionizing mental health care on campus.

The University of Arizona is partnering with Art Pharmacy, a national health services company that takes a new creative approach to treating mental health. Arizona Arts RX prescribes art and cultural experiences to those experiencing mental health concerns, basing these prescriptions off of the students interests and background. 

UAMA is proud to partner with Arizona Arts RX along side the Poetry Center and Arizona Arts Live to offer students a variety of experiences.

The three-year pilot program is being sponsored by Arizona Arts supporters, including lead donor Peggy Goulding, a dietitian and nutritionist who has worked in health care for more than 40 years.

"Helping young people deal with the many mental health issues in today's world is of paramount importance to me," Goulding said. "Based on my experience in health care and my appreciation of the healing power of the arts, I believe this program will be beneficial to the students at the University of Arizona."
