Public Art Alliance

Staff Liaison, Kristen Schmidt, Registrar:

The Public Art Alliance (PAA) provides support for and increases awareness of the sculpture installed on the campus of the University of Arizona (UA). The PAA engages in advocacy campaigns to inspire a spirit of ownership, investment, and dialog in the UA and Tucson communities surrounding public art. The PAA also holds fundraising events in order to maintain the physical integrity of the sculpture at the UA.

Members of the Public Art Alliance accomplish this by:

  • engaging in advocacy campaigns to inspire a spirit of ownership in public art, investment in its future, and dialog in the UA and Tucson communities;
  • holding events to fundraise for the maintenance and purchase of sculpture at the UA;
  • seeking out alumni, faculty, and students to unite in supporting the public art program.

Members of the PAA, through their service:

  • gain knowledge of the issues surrounding public art;
  • work alongside other community members with common interests;
  • help shape the future and ensure the sustainability of the public art program on the UA campus.
