The museum is thrilled to announce the return of Tinkerlab in 2018!
Tinkerlab is a makerspace – an environment that fosters experimentation, invention, problem solving and creativity. Makerspaces are reminiscent of Renaissance-era artist studios where art, invention and science were not seen as separate disciplines.
Tinkerlab at UAMA features engineering and art activities, designed to be hands on, collaborative and fun for kids. Drop in for free with regular museum admission from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursdays to experience:
XR (Cross Reality) Tech | July 5 & August 9, for kids ages 3+
Play with augmented coloring pages and virtual reality games while learning about the variety of educational XR tools out there. Kids can create their own 3D-painted space!
3D Tech | June 21 & July 19, for ages 6-12
Learn about 3D modeling, scanning and printing by playing with 3D-printed race cars and downloading a mini model of yourself!
E-Textile Robots | June 28 & July 26, for ages 6-12
What are e-textiles? Discover the wonder of these easy circuits and create your very own light-up robot figurine!
Music and Tech | July 12 & August 2, for kids ages 3+
Experience music and technology coming together. Kids can code music, experiment with simple sound circuits and play a giant floor piano!
On top of these activities, Story Time will be offered for kids ages 2-5 at 10 a.m. on Wednesdays from June 27 through August 15.
If you need help or have any questions, a Tinkerlab tech will be available to assist you during drop-in hours.
