Politeia. In the context of this exhibit, we define “Politeia” as ‘active citizens of the city state.’ In our current sociopolitical and social cultural climate it is crucial that we create space where people can safely engage with viewpoints and life experiences different from their own. The art and content generated here is not produced by the museum, instead it is through you, the museum visitor. Multiple narratives, perspectives, and identities will emerge over the course of this exhibit; the exhibition narrative will likely not be absolute, static, singular, or tidy. In this gallery space, we urge all people to be active citizens in our greater community and engage in critical dialogue with respect and compassion for other individuals.
